This fall, I had the amazing opportunity to intern at Fauna Conservation and Analytics, LLC. During my time there, I got to manage the company’s website and take on a variety of other tasks. In this post, I’ll share my experience, what I learned, and how this internship helped me grow both professionally and personally.

Creating a employee website for future internships/employment
Fauna Conservation and Analytics, LLC, stands out for its flexibility, remote work environment, and diverse opportunities. As a nonprofit organization focused on environmental and wildlife management, the company provides a broad range of experiences, including biology studies, website management, and on-site activities. This variety allows interns to explore multiple aspects of the biology field, such as research, wildlife reporting, and community education.
The leadership’s emphasis on flexibility and effective remote communication fosters a supportive work environment. Tasks and schedules are managed through open dialogue with supervisors, ensuring that work remains adaptable while maintaining productivity.

During my internship, I successfully met several of my goals. First, I completed a tutorial on Kaleidoscope, a program for analyzing bat noises, and applied this knowledge effectively in my report writing. Second, consistently attended weekly meetings with my supervisor, submitted biweekly invoices and timesheets, and provided regular updates on my tasks and projects, which helped me stay organized and meet expectations. Finally, I engaged in clear and professional email exchanges on multiple occasions, ensuring that my updates and feedback were concise and effective.
Reflecting on areas for further development, I aim to expand my skills in web development to create more advanced websites, improve time management to better balance internship responsibilities with coursework, and strengthen my team collaboration and leadership by contributing ideas, delegating tasks, and fostering a productive team environment. These focus areas will help me grow both personally and professionally in future roles.

Overall, my internship at Fauna Conservation and Analytics, LLC, provided me with invaluable experience and a better understanding of the diverse responsibilities in the field of wildlife conservation and analytics. I was able to apply my academic knowledge, improve my professional skills, and achieve the goals I set for myself. As I continue to develop in my career, I will use this experience as a foundation to refine my skills and pursue further opportunities for growth.
